PITTSBURGH —

Parkway East traffic near one side of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel will be temporarily stopped Wednesday and Thursday, PennDOT announced Tuesday afternoon.

Drivers heading westbound on I-376 will be stopped for 15 minutes as crews deliver a bridge beam to the Commercial Street Bridge construction area. The beam delivery is expected to arrive on site between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Advertisement

"For deliveries to occur, large trucks will travel on I-79, eastbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway West), and eastbound (outbound) I-376 (Parkway East) and pull into the plaza outside the suburban side of Squirrel Hill Tunnel," PennDOT said. "Motorists should expect delays."

PennDOT said additional beam deliveries will occur at later dates as the project continues.
