A Hunterdon County man was arrested after he stole a car at knifepoint and later crashed it into another vehicle while being pursued by police, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday.
Jarrett Burd, 26, of Hampton, reportedly stole a 2022 Toyota 4Runner during the afternoon of Sept. 15 after he threatened the owner with a knife, police said.
Burd was charged with first-degree carjacking, second-degree eluding and third-degree theft of a motor vehicle, as well as aggravated assault of emergency medical services personnel, weapon offenses and assault by auto,
The carjacking occurred on Frenchtown Road in Milford Borough at a Citgo gas station, officials said.
State police responded to the theft at approximately 3:22 p.m. after the Hunterdon County Dispatch was notified
