LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Two women have been arrested in connection with what investigators say was a scheme to fraudulently take ownership of a property in central Laredo.
Lydia Martinez, 52, and Nancy Medina Maldonado, 44, were taken into custody on forgery charges after an investigation that began in June, according to police.
Authorities said the case started when a woman reported that her property in the 1900 block of Guerrero Street had been transferred to a transportation company through a forged deed. Investigators later determined the property had not been foreclosed on or auctioned, police said.
A search warrant at the property turned up documents, a notary stamp, a cellphone, laptops, and a USB device, according to police.
