LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - It’s been a discussion for over a decade, and the City of Laredo is still trying to figure out how to make quiet zones possible.

The railways around and throughout Laredo are extremely busy. Approximately, trains blow their horn 2,000 times a day in this city.

Trains happen to be a main source of trade in Laredo, crossing over the Rio Grande daily.

These specific crossings happen mostly in downtown Laredo, or district 8. Exactly why councilmember Alyssa Cigarroa put the item on the agenda at last night’s city council meeting.
