While walking his own dog through the Frank Niederwerfer Wildlife Sanctuary in Connecticut, a Good Samaritan was startled by strange barking coming from deeper in the woods.

Curious and concerned, he went to investigate. There, he discovered a heartbreaking sight: an abandoned five-year-old dog tied tightly to a tree by his collar.

Since the pup remained calm and gentle despite his ordeal, the man freed him and quickly brought him to Tyler Regional Animal Care Shelter (TRACS) in South Windsor, Connecticut.

Introducing Obie

Although the collar identified him as “Kobe,” the shelter staff felt a new name would help him leave his painful past behind. They decided to call him Obie, giving him a fresh start and a new identity.
