Authorities in Lawrence on Monday arrested an alleged member of the violent Trinitarios street gang on a federal drug charge pending out of Maine, records show.
The FBI said Luis Jose Nivar Cabral, 24, of Lawrence, was taken into custody with an initial appearance in US District Court in Boston slated for Monday afternoon. Cabral will later be transferred to Maine, officials said.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Cabral had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
According to a criminal complaint, Cabral faces a charge of conspiring to distribute fentanyl, which carries a maximum prison term of 20 years, in August and this month in Maine.
