GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Department of Health Services issued a statewide medical order on Tuesday allowing many Wisconsinites to get COVID-19 vaccines without a prescription.
This comes a day after Governor Tony Evers signed an executive order giving the DHS more power with immunization recommendations and access.
The medical order also comes ahead of the respiratory virus season.
Health officials say even though the 2020 pandemic happened half a decade ago, the COVID-19 virus poses a significant threat to the public.
Although the Food and Drug Administration only approved the most recent version of the vaccine for elderly people, the DHS is allowing other groups, like children and pregnant people, to get the vaccine as well.
It’s also meant to give more clarity for pharmacists s
