GRAND JUNCTION Colo. (KREX)- Local veterans gathered Tuesday in Cedaredge for a quarterly brunch to honor their service and connect with others who understand their experiences.
The quarterly veterans’ brunch is a place for veterans to socialize and receive support. Pastor Bob Anders, a Vietnam-era Army nurse and one of the key organizers, said the gatherings offer more than just a meal.
“The social situation is very important, particularly as we get older, fewer family members around or whatever,” Anders said. “It’s interesting, we sit around the table, and you hear all the war stories and all of the things that they have done. And it just makes you so proud. These young men gave time of their lives to our country. So, serving our military is so important, at least to me.”
