OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Soon, food truck vendors won't need to get a permit from every city they operate in. Starting November 1, they'll just need a state food establishment license, which allows them to work anywhere while following local rules.
The current laws were causing quite the problems for vendors when we spoke to some back in April who were trying to change them.
"Trying to figure out, okay, do I pay $25? Do I pay $30? Do I pay $100?" Rodrigues Thompson with Worth Tha W8 LLC said back in April.
However, the Food Truck Freedom Act passed through the legislature this past session, and it allows the vendors to operate anywhere in the state with just their food establishment license.
"It's going to make it easier for them to make a living," Sen. Christi Gillespie (R-Broken Arrow)
