ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — An Orangeburg man has been charged in a deadly shooting at an apartment complex earlier this month.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced Tuesday that 21-year-old Quentin Williams Jr. is facing charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in the shooting death of 28-year-old Cameron Ryant of Orangeburg.

Deputies say they were called to Presidential Drive around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 for reports of gunfire. Investigators identified Williams as a suspect and, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, took him into custody on Monday.

“This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to take someone’s life and for what?” Sheriff Ravenell said. “Nothing in this world is worth taking someone’s life.”
