SHREVEPORT, La. – DeSoto Parish police jurors have joined the Bossier City Council in pausing electronic voting at their meetings until a pending lawsuit filed against the Caddo Commission is resolved.

The state attorney general filed suit against the commission in August, alleging seven commissioners violated the state’s Open Meetings Law by supporting and signing a resolution honoring U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders during his Shreveport visit. The resolution was prepared despite not being presented and approved at a public meeting.

Then last month, Attorney General Liz Murrill amended her lawsuit, saying the commissioners tried to ratify their actions but did so by electronic voting instead of by voice, which she contends is what the state law calls for.
