(WAVY) — It’s that time of the year.

Most likely you or someone you know is sniffling, sneezing or just feeling awful. More is to come, and experts say you should start taking precautions now. But the good news is that COVID-19 numbers are on their way down.

“They’re just starting to decrease over the last couple of weeks, but we did see a little bit of an uptick at the end of summer, late August, beginning of September,” said Sentara Health’s Director of Infection Prevention Tracey Odachowski.

But we’re on the upswing of rotavirus and enterovirus.

“Both of these are both respiratory illnesses, so lots of respiratory illnesses going around, colds, et cetera," Odachowski said. "There are other coronaviruses, actually. Coronavirus really is the common cold."
