CAYCE, S.C. — Airport Boulevard in Cayce is getting a full makeover, soon to be lined with new trees, flowers, and shrubs.

It’s part of a beautification project aimed at giving some of the busiest corridors in the area a fresh new look. The Midlands Business Leadership Group is spearheading the project and working with cities across the region to spruce up key entryways into Columbia.

The City of Cayce received funding from the group and will begin construction later this month on Airport Boulevard, from the I-26 overpass heading toward the airport.

Cayce Mayor Elise Partin says the project has been in the works since 2019, and now it's finally happening.

“But this really is a signal to this region about the importance of what we think about arriving in our region,” Partin said.
