TOLEDO, Ohio — A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized with a concussion Tuesday afternoon after he rode his bike into a vehicle driving in south Toledo, according to police.

The child tried to cross South Avenue at the Spencer Street intersection around 5 p.m. while a do not sign was active and hit the side of a vehicle driving west on the road, Toledo police said in a press release Tuesday evening.

The child was initially thought have serious injuries, but police say it was later determined he only had a concussion.

Police said the child was at fault, but he will not be cited because he is 5 years old.

The driver of the vehicle he rode into, a 22-year-old from Toledo, was not injured.
