ATLANTA — A federal affidavit alleges a 19-year-old arrested Monday after the ambush of an armored vehicle and shooting of its driver outside an Atlanta Kroger took more than $100,000 and tried to steal the gun of the driver he'd fired at.

The affidavit states the victim in the incident, the driver of a Loomis armored van, was in stable condition following the incident. The 19-year-old suspect, Clinton Mayers, was taken into custody after fleeing the scene on Monday and then crashing in Forest Park, according to police.

The affidavit, filed in federal court as the FBI is now the lead agency in this case, provides new details on the incident.

It alleges Mayers was standing outside the Kroger on Metropolitan Parkway in all black, with black gloves, a black beanie and a blue medical mask
