Yordan Alvarez cannot catch a break this season.

Alvarez was sidelined for four months due to a hand injury and was just getting back into an everyday role for the Astros. That came to a screeching halt Monday when Alvarez injured his left ankle stepping on home plate.

Manager Joe Espada gave an update Tuesday, and it sounds like Alvarez is going to be out for an extended period of time.

"He's got a pretty significant ankle sprain, so it's going to keep him out for a while," Espada told reporters via a post on X from SportsTalk790. "We are going to take it one day at a time, but this is going to take quite some time to heal."
