Police sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in locating a man who allegedly assaulted a security officer at a restaurant in Torrance after being asked to leave.

Officers responded around 8:20 p.m. Monday to a Benihana restaurant in the 21300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard to reports of a physical assault, according to the Torrance Police Department.

The assault stemmed from an altercation involving a manager and an employee, in which the manager asked the employee to vacate the premises but the employee refused to comply, police said.

As the altercation escalated, a security officer attempted to assist the manager with escorting the employee out of the restaurant, which resulted in the officer sustaining injuries to the face and head, police added.
