DINUBA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The Dinuba Fire Department officially welcomed its brand-new ladder truck, Truck 31, with a traditional “push-in ceremony” on Tuesday.
A "push-in ceremony" is a celebration rooted in firefighting history and fueled by years of support from local and state leaders.
Though Truck 31 has already been in service for nearly a month, the ceremony served as the formal moment of recognition for the vital new addition to the department.
Dinuba Fire Chief Greg Chastain said that the pushing ceremony dates back well over 100 years, originating when horses drew fire equipment.
“So, firefighters would return back to the station, and they would have to physically push their equipment back in. We maintain that tradition just to honor those that came before us,” he said.
