CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Don’t miss the annual War for the Wheel on Saturday, September 20, featuring longtime rivals Redhawks and Salukis.

Last year, SEMO beat SIUC 38-21.

The annual match marks the 93rd meeting between the two teams. It’s the longest series for both schools.

In 2018, the football rivalry between SEMO and SIU was officially named “War for the Wheel” in reference to the ship’s wheel trophy, which goes to the winner each year.

During the early years of the series, the teams would cross the Mississippi River by boat to play each other.

Saturday is also SEMO’s Family Weekend.
