KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Carter Jensen watched Royals players hit home runs at Kauffman Stadium when he was two years old.

Tuesday, 22 years later, the Kansas City native hit one of his own at the K — about 20 miles from his own backyard.

It happened in the bottom of the fourth inning of the Royals’ series opener against the Seattle Mariners. The club called him up from Triple-A Omaha two weeks ago.

The home run was hit to the opposite field, landing in the opposing bullpen to cut the Royals’ deficit to 9-1.

Jensen, the Royals’ 2021 third-round pick, also won the Royals’ George Brett Hitter of the Year Award this year in AA/AAA. He hit 20 home runs in his time in Northwest Arkansas and Omaha this season.
