MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - A 68-year-old Wisconsin woman was arrested and faces five felony counts of mistreatment of animals causing death and two counts of mistreatment for allegedly leaving seven dogs in a vehicle.
According to the Madison Police Department, officers at roughly 4 p.m. on September 13 found seven Great Danes locked in a parked van at the 400 block of Science Drive with no access to air, food or water.
Two of the dogs were reportedly found dead inside from various stages of heat stroke, and three others were euthanized as a result of their condition. Another is in critical condition, with the last placed in a breeder's custody.
