Two men have been rescued from the Western Australian coast after their vessel capsized off Garden Island.

The incident happened at 10.15am on September 16, with the men issuing a mayday call, which was received on the marine radio channel VHF16.

A nearby commercial fishing vessel was first on scene and located the overturned aluminium boat.

The two men were found precariously sitting on the upturned hull, unharmed, and both men were wearing lifejackets.

Water police deployed air and sea assets, including a Challenger jet, RAC Rescue helicopter, and local marine rescue vessels.

The men were transported safely back to shore where they were met by St John WA paramedics.
