MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - The Central Vermont Medical Center lost its budget appeal case in a new ruling by the Vermont Supreme Court.
Last year, CVMC wanted to raise its revenue and commercial rates past the benchmarks set by regulators.
The regulators thought the proposal was too high, and lowered it. CVMC appealed the decision, saying the regulators had quote, “no constraints on [their] discretion and had no standards for evaluation.”
The Vermont Supreme Court, in its ruling, said, “While CVMC disagrees with the Board’s conclusions, it fails to make a clear and
convincing showing that the Board’s decision was standardless, arbitrary, or unsupported by the evidence."
