HARRISONBURG — This week’s game is nearly 4,000 days in the making — 3,948 to be exact.

A whole lot has changed since James Madison and Liberty last faced off on the football field.

The Dukes have had four different coaches — Everett Withers, Mike Houston, Curt Cignetti and now Bob Chesney.

The Flames, meanwhile, have undergone a pair of coaching changes since the 2014 meeting.

“A rivalry that, I guess, will be one of the latest scheduled-out rivalries in all of the sports at this moment,” Chesney said. “Which is something I think that some are excited about, some not so excited about. At the same point in time, it’s a team that’s very capable, a very good football team, and we got to make sure that we bring everything we got to it.”
