EUFAULA, Ala. (WTVM) - Good news for residents in rural Barbour County. High Speed internet access is one step closer to being available. Spectrum has announced they are expanding their coverage area and they say it will be ready in less than a month.
“There’s still some areas out there that are probably unserved,” Mayor Jack Tibbs said.
Bringing high speed broadband internet to Alabama’s rural areas has been a goal of Alabama Governor Key Ivey’s for many years. In 2024, Governor Ivey announced an increase in funding to bring high speed internet to parts of the state, including areas of Barbour County.
“We have not only made significant progress in advancing Alabama’s broadband capability, we have received national recognition for this innovative approach,” Governor Ivey said.
