Governor Gretchen Whitmer is calling for everyone to ease the political rhetoric in the United States following the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

On social media this week , Whitmer said in the face of violence — like the plot to kidnap her, the assassination attempt on President Trump, and the murder of a Democratic lawmaker in Minnesota — we must choose respect and understanding.
