HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- After months of insisting customers could safely drink discolored water, Veolia Water has added a disclaimer to its notice.
"If the water is discolored, do not use for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth or food preparation," a sentence reads in an alert for hydrant flushing this past weekend in the Harrisburg area.

Lower Paxton Township also notified residents not to drink discolored water if they received notification of flushing in their area.
Veolia blamed hydrant flushing for much of its issues this summer, along with other factors, saying it could kick up particles. Along the way, it told customers its tests confirmed the water "remains safe for use."
