After off-duty Edgewater Police Officer David Jewell was shot and killed in Ormond-by-the-Sea Monday, the community he served is honoring him.

Claudine Boring was one of the many who stopped at Officer David Jewell's Cruiser, stationed outside the Edgewater Police Department, Tuesday.

"We just have no words for… we're still in shock. We don't have any words," Boring said.

DJ as she called Officer Jewell was someone she knew for more than two decades in her time working for fire services and the Sheriff's Office. She said she worked with his father as well. She said law enforcement was Officer Jewell's dream
