BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Three years after the death of LSU student Allie Rice, her family and others affected by gun violence gathered Tuesday to honor her memory and call for safer communities.
Rice, 21, was shot and killed on Sept. 16, 2022, while waiting at a railroad crossing on Government Street. To this day, no arrests have been made in her case.
“I’m a firm believer that you should never outlive your child,” her father Paul Rice said.
On the anniversary of her death, the Live Like Allie Foundation hosted a balloon release at the soon-to-open Inspiration Center, a multi-million-dollar facility in North Baton Rouge focused on crime prevention and public safety.
Each person released a yellow balloon, symbolizing Rice’s favorite color. Family, friends, and city leaders stood along
