WELD COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Two Weld County deputies were injured after one deputy’s weapon was discharged during training on Tuesday, according to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

WCSO said deputies were participating in a firearm training at the Weld County Sheriff’s Office Sam Brownlee Training Center in Carr, near the Wyoming border, around 3:17 p.m.

Towards the end of training, the sheriff’s office said deputies were out of the firing line, securing their gear, when a deputy discharged their firearm, injuring both themselves and another deputy.

According to WCSO, both deputies were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, their identities have not been released.

The sheriff’s office says the incident is under investigation.
