BOSTON -- This week in baseball marks a significant day on the schedule to recognize Roberto Clemente Day, which celebrates the life on and off the field of the Pittsburgh Pirates legend who equally built a resume of elite performance and philanthropy.

The Boston Red Sox had an off-day on Sept. 15, which the league recognizes as Roberto Clemente Day, before a three-game series with the Athletics. The team will wear No. 21 patches to commemorate Clemente during Tuesday's game.

Liam Hendriks, who earned his seventh nomination for the Roberto Clemente Award for humanitarian work, took a strong stance that every team should have a game scheduled on Sept. 15 moving forward.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't do this yesterday," Hendriks said at Fenway Park Tuesday. "For some reason, we didn't play
