SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A Savannah alderwoman under fire for a social media post shared about Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist who was shot and killed Sept. 10, responded to those calling for her resignation Tuesday.

The controversy began when Post 2 at-large Alderwoman Alicia Miller Blakely shared a post online making negative remarks about Kirk after his assassination. She shared a viral video made by content creator Stefan Cagle where he captions his video “Charlie Kirk is a racist."

The alderwoman spoke about the post Tuesday night during her weekly podcast.
