St. Louis University made an unexpected jump in the United Soccer Coaches poll on Tuesday, climbing from No. 24 to No. 7 in a week where all it did was tie ninth-ranked Portland 0-0.
SLU’s stay in the top 10 may be a short one as it went out a few hours later and played Missouri State to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday night at Hermann Stadium. SLU took the lead in the 53rd minute on a goal by Nick Schramm off a long throw-in by Jackson Delkus that landed in the box but the lead lasted only four minutes before Missouri State (3-1-2) tied it on a shot from the top of the box. It’s the fifth straight meeting between the teams to end in a tie.
