BILLINGS, Mont. – A federal jury found Steven Dwayne Scott, a 51-year-old registered sex offender from Billings, guilty of attempted coercion and enticement, as well as possession of child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme announced Scott's conviction following a one-and-a-half-day trial. Scott faces up to a lifetime in prison, a $250,000 fine and up to a lifetime of supervised release when he’s sentenced on January 8, 2026.

Court documents revealed that in March 2024, Scott had conversations with law enforcement, posing as a 12-year-old girl, on Facebook.

Scott sought nude photos and sent a $25 Amazon gift card to the undercover officer to obtain images which led to his arrest.
