LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Las Vegas watchdog groups allege a new energy charge unjustly targets solar users, but the power company says it won’t increase the monthly bill, maybe lowering it.
During a Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) meeting, customers and conservation groups spoke against a 185-page draft of changes for NV Energy. The changes included an increase in company revenue, a new fee, and net metering changes, which mainly impact solar users.
“We feel it's very unfair to those who wish to convert to solar and put the panels on their homes,” Janet Carter, a Sierra Club Toiyabe Chapter member, said. “They may, in fact, find themselves paying more than makes it reasonable cost-wise.”
