DETROIT — The Nationals have interviewed Matt Forman, Guardians executive vice president and assistant general manager, to be their new general manager.
The Nationals fired long-time GM Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez in a July.
This is Forman’s 13th year with the Guardians. He was named Assistant GM in 2016, and he was promoted to Executive Vice President and Assistant GM before the 2022 season.
Forman’s role since 2022 has been to assist the team’s top two executives, Chris Antonetti and Mike Chernoff, in all aspects of the baseball operations department.
