HUNTINGTON — The Marshall University football team has a strange history with Middle Tennessee State that dates back to its days in Conference USA.
The Thundering Herd leads the all-time series 6-5. Typically, the home team wins, as Marshall has lost four of the games on the road, while the Blue Raiders have lost five in Huntington.
Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium is often called a house of horrors. In the last game the two played, Marshall had nearly 500 yards of offense, but it lost four fumbles and threw two interceptions to lose by six points.
Marshall has since left C-USA and is in the Sun Belt Conference, and first-year Marshall coach Tony Gibson doesn’t care much about history books.
