Friday’s Herbert Hoover-Nitro football game had plenty of offensive stars, but the 15-14 contest won by the Huskies in Elkview became a game that was more about the defenses.
Running backs Blake Fisher, for Hoover, and Chris Radcliffe for Nitro were offensive forces in a game that offered the promise of an aerial attack. Those aerial attacks were mostly limited, with just one touchdown coming through the air.
Fisher was held to less than 100 yards rushing, according to unofficial statistics, with 89 yards rushing on 14 carries, but he did have a 4-yard TD.
Hoover had trouble sustaining drives thanks in large part to the play of Nitro defensive end Xavier Patterson.
