A Pig Party!

The Four Seasons Hotel was the site for the night when the 85-year-old American Diabetes Association held its annual Kiss a Pig Gala. Billed as a black-tie event, it gathers industry leaders and community supporters to celebrate the fundraising efforts of nominated candidates. They come from Louisiana and Mississippi and, throughout the year, run peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns to compete for the honor of kissing a pig. Yep! Kissing a pig.

The association honors the significant role pigs have played in the development of insulin and diabetes treatment. In the 1920s, scientists found that pig pancreas could be used to make insulin. The acclaimed animal has made a heroic contribution to diabetes research. Everyone is sow, sow grateful.
