Za’Darius Smith left the Arrowhead Stadium locker room on Sunday all smiles, as he should have.

The Eagles’ recent signing had plenty to be happy about. Smith’s new team won in his debut, a Super Bowl rematch with the Chiefs. And he played well, helping shut down Patrick Mahomes — and showing what he can still offer as a 33-year-old edge rusher.

Smith was signed less than 24 hours after the Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, a game in which the Eagles failed to record a sack. On Sunday in Kansas City, the three-time Pro Bowler was in on a sack less than two quarters into his Eagles tenure.

Talk about an instant impact.

“He’s really heavy handed, can win with power, can win with speed, quick,” head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday. “It’s been fun being around him for a week.”
