Amy Gillham, 34, started renovating properties in 2014 at the age of 21 and has made over £250,000 in profit since.

Despite successfully flipping four properties since then, Ms Gillham has just bought her first new-build and lives there with her husband, Jamie, and their two young children, three-year-old Fred and two-year-old Faith.

She made the decision for a variety of factors – young children, the discounted price of the home and a stamp duty cashback incentive being three of them.

Ms Gillham’s first project in 2014 was a two-bedroom flat in Crowborough, East Sussex, which she bought with a 95 per cent mortgage for £125,000.

“The renovations were cosmetic, but I also put in a new bathroom. It was not a big outlay – just paint and carpet.”
