In a recent newsletter to his Macomb County constituents, State Senator Kevin Hertel made some incorrect and misleading accusations about Oakland County’s stormwater and wastewater treatment operations. Unfortunately, instead of seeking correct information, Senator Hertel appears to be simply repeating previously discredited inaccurate claims of other Macomb County officials. Here are some facts for residents in both counties to consider.
First, Oakland County does not discharge raw sewage into Lake St. Clair. The State authorizes and permits discharge from Oakland County’s George W.
