ATLANTA — Atlanta's City Council on Monday appointed Carden Wyckoff, a disability advocate well known around Atlanta for her work promoting transit accessibility and equity, to the seat of departed Councilman Amir Farokhi.

Farokhi himself had recommended Wyckoff to the council, which and she will now hold the seat for the next 104 days before municipal elections in November. She is not running in November to fill a full term.

According to an Atlanta City Council release, Wyckoff has previously served as chairwoman for the City of Atlanta Accessibility and Inclusion Task Force and on MARTA's Riders Advisory Committee. As part of holding Farokhi's seat, she will also serve on the city council Transportation Committee.
