TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Anibal and Dolores Teixeira's love for one another has stood the test of time.

The Fall River natives, both 96 years old, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary earlier this month.

Their love story began five years earlier at a dance.

Anibal, then 15, told 12 News he was sitting by himself when he was asked if he was interested in dancing with "a pretty young lady."

That young lady was 15-year-old Dolores.

"We danced and I walked her home that evening," Anibal recalled.

Though Anibal admitted it was "love at first sight," the two wouldn't meet again until another dance three years later.

That night, Dolores was out celebrating her 18th birthday.
