Hecher Sosa punched his ticket to the UFC on Tuesday night just days after the death of his father.
Sosa, 30, dominated the previously undefeated Mackson Lee on Dana White's Contender Series (DWCS), having previously lit it up at Ilia Topuria 's co-owned WOW FC promotion.
The bantamweight decided to pursue the Las Vegas bout just 72 hours after learning of his father's passing from cancer.
Sosa has also lost his sister to the same illness in the last year.
"This is for my father. I can't talk to him today, but he is the reason I am here," the 'Guanche Warriors' said after his DWCS win.
"He's the reason I am the man I am, and I will continue to represent him and make him very proud."
White acknowledged Sosa's mentality when rewarding him with a UFC contract shortly after.
