CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Hundreds gathered on the University of Cincinnati’s campus Tuesday evening for a vigil honoring Charlie Kirk, a conservative political commentator who was assassinated in Utah.

Organizers say they wanted to honor the life of a man who meant a lot to them, and the turnout ended up being more than they expected.

“I was so confused why I felt so affected by this man getting shot. It’s a thing that happens a lot, but this one just truly, it really tore something up in me, I don’t know how to explain it,” Alexis Holding told FOX19 NOW.

Kirk’s assassination was a devastating shock to Holding, which is why she organized a vigil for the Turning Point USA founder on her campus.

She said she only expected around 100 attendees.
