WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas Department of Corrections received a $1.4 million grant to provide behavioral services for kids.

All juveniles will be tested as part of the arrival process to help identify specific needs for mental health and substance abuse services.

Organizers say they hope the screenings will help put young people on the right track.

The owner of a local substance abuse center said that while it can’t be guaranteed all kids will be successful in their treatments, the grant will provide the best opportunity to do so.
