While it has been some time since the Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended, mangaka Gege Akutami is far from done expanding the franchise's universe. As part of this, he has partnered with Cipher Academy manga artist Yuji Iwasaki to create a short sequel manga called Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo .

The new series is set in 2086 and focuses on Yuka and Tsurugi, grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin. This detail might seem odd to some, considering how manga creators are known to focus on the descendant of the protagonist from the original series for a sequel.

However, Gege Akutami may have a good reason to pick Yuta and Maki's descendants over Yuji's. And, honestly, it may be nothing short of a genius writing move, helping the creator come full circle with his franchise.
