The Washington Commanders have signed veteran pass-rusher Preston Smith, adding more depth to their defensive front, and placed cornerback Jonathan Jones on the Reserve/Injured list.

Smith, who was drafted by Washington in the second round of the 2015 draft, has appeared in 163 games with 138 starts. He has recorded 70.5 sacks in that that 10-year span along with 443 tackles, 27 pass breakups, seven fumble recoveries and five interceptions.

Smith spent the first four seasons of his career in Washington and was a mainstay on the team's defensive line. He recorded 24.5 sacks in 64 games and recorded at least one interception in his final three seasons with the team. Smith also spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
