LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - As fall approaches, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed an executive directive to ensure COVID-19 vaccines remain accessible to Michiganders.

The directive calls on state agencies to identify and eliminate any barriers to vaccine access, helping residents stay healthy ahead of the cold and flu season.

Under the directive, multiple Michigan departments are instructed to:

Provide clear, accessible guidance to pharmacists, healthcare providers, and the public on the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines.

Direct pharmacists and providers to encourage the prescribing and administration of COVID-19 vaccines to eligible patients.

Identify, review, and remove obstacles that limit access to the vaccine, ensuring it remains widely available throughout the state.
